The observer effect makes us all pretty superstitious. When you really really want something...do you ever think that thinking about it too much will alter the outcome?? The uncertainty principle states that we can't know the position and momentum of a particle at the same time, so when I say, "Whoa, it'll land....don't stare" , it's like hey calm down and don't focus too much on your momentum or your position.
